I was browsing through an old journal last night. It was interesting to note the difference in my aspirations of "then" and "now". I talked a lot about grades, the necessity of obtaining A's and A+'s, and how set I was on attending Columbia Law School. I got a good laugh out of how different my goals are now. Some would argue that I've sold myself short and managed to settle for less. False. Graduating with my Bachelors in 3 years? Taking a year off to move to the mountains and snowboard? BYU Law School? Fantastic. I can't say I've ever anticipated the future more than I do now. Sure, New York is great, and Columbia is stellar; but the city scape soon grows old, and then you're left with a bustling crowd and impersonal relationships. Convince me all you want, but I can't imagine falling out of love with the mountain life anytime soon.

Live spontaneously. Invest time in those things that are necessary and important, but use those remaining hours to fill your life with passion. Over and out.

You haven't sold yourself short at all, and I'm glad you realize that. You're choosing to enjoy life while making smart choices. I can't wait to see you around at the BYU Law building in a couple years!

It is SO important to do what works for YOU and no one else. I think it also depends on what you want to do with your career. Columbia is an amazing school, and there are so many opportunities available there. I think it would be an amazing experience for you, and any other person pursuing law. If you do apply and get in, i'd think long and hard about it, but until then do what makes you happy, because that is most important.
